Comrade and Voltage
Iyorwuese Hagher’s play on the nature of power is set in an African hydro-power station, where the engineers loyal to the station and their discipline are pitted against the labour union employees desiring to shut the power station down on a national strike to topple the women’s revolutionary government. The play explores the intersection between greed, loyalty, betrayal, and trust.
Professor Hagher is one of Africa’s best playwrights and the most politically exposed. He is a multi-talented artist: playwright, novelist, and poet, who was Nigeria’s Ambassador to Mexico and Canada. Hagher lives in Dayton, Ohio, USA.
